The following courses are organized in level of difficulty from beginner, intermediate to advanced – levels 1, 2 to 3 – starting with Pilates courses, and followed by Yoga, Bellydance and Tae Bo® courses.
Classes run from Monday January 9th to Sunday March 4th, 2012. Fees do not include GST.

Pilates Courses

Essential Matwork (Twice Weekly) – Level 1

A great starting point for beginners, this twice weekly essential matwork course teaches the five basic principles of the STOTT PILATES method and builds a foundation of exercises required to move on the next level. This mat-based workout is designed to help participants develop longer leaner muscles, establish core strength and stability, and heighten mind-body awareness. Students are welcome to stay in the Essentials class until they and their teacher feel they are ready to move on to the next level.

Essential Reformer – Level 1

In this course you will learn the basic reformer apparatus concepts focusing on core stability and use of breath to facilitate power from the core. You will learn safety and setup of the reformer, basic exercises and the principles of Pilates on the reformer.

Mindful Pilates – Level 1

This will be a mindful Pilates class, helping you relax, stretch , and get the kinks out at the same time as you will begin to build a strong core and hopefully feel more in tune with your body. No previous Pilates experience is necessary. It will be a great way to wind down the week and loosen up before the weekend.

Beginners Plus Matwork (Twice Weekly) – Level 1 – 2

This class will use the beginners repertoire of exercises as a base and add props, modifications and intermediate level exercises to build strength and flexibility.

Essential/Intermediate Matwork (Twice Weekly)- Level 1 – 2

This course has specifically been designed for those who are moving on from the twice a week essential level course and want to be challenged at an essential/intermediate level.

This course has specifically been designed for those who are moving on from an essential level course and want to be challenged at an essential/intermediate level.

Intermediate Lunchtime Reformer (Twice Weekly) – Level 2

This 45 minute course will take place on the reformer apparatus. You have taken the essential reformer course and now you want to learn more and increase your skill level and learn more intermediate level exercises.

Intermediate Lunchtime Reformer (Once a Week) – Level 2

This course is for those who are very familiar with the reformer and wish to polish their skills to a higher level. You will learn more difficult, intense and challenging exercises.

Yoga Courses

Moms and Babies Post-Natal Yoga – Level 1

This post-natal Yoga class is at a beginner’s level and is a great opportunity for the Mom to regain strength and flexibility, to bond with their babies, and to meet other Moms and their babies. We recommend the Mom have had their six week checkup and have been cleared to resume exercise by their doctor.

Pre-Natal Yoga – Level 1

This pre-natal Yoga course teaches a gentle form of classic Hatha Yoga that is done with modified Yoga poses. Pre-natal Yoga can improve comfort during pregnancy by improving your balance and circulation, and helps prepare you for the birthing process through breathing techniques and increased flexibility. A doctor’s note is required to register for this course.
Wed. 6:30 pm, 8 sessions $112.

Heated Yoga – All Levels

A moderately paced class that will develop flexibility safely through a strengthening series of postures. This class will also encourage detoxification by varied sequences of dynamic postures that generate heat. This class will be held in a heated room and humidified room at 30 degrees centigrade.

Traditional Ashtanga Yoga

Traditional Ashtanga Yoga is a system that was refined by K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) in Mysore, India from the work of his teacher, Sri Tirumala Krishnamacharya (1888-1989), who is considered the most influential yogi on many contemporary yoga practices. The class will consist of a set series of postures linked together through dynamic movements and muscular contractions synchronized to the rhythm of the breath. The system encourages a strong, supple and stable body and mind. Bronwen will conduct the classes as instructed to her by the eldest son of Pattabhi Jois, Manju Jois, who she will again join in Hawaii this November after several trainings with him in Europe.

Traditional Ashtanga Yoga – Level 2

This class will focus on the fundamentals of the first series of postures of the Ashtanga Yoga system that aims to purify the body. An opening mantra will begin a standing sequence of postures, followed by seated postures and a closing sequence that consists of breathing exercises, mental focus techniques and a closing mantra. Prior experience with Yoga is not required; however, a moderate level of fitness and ability is recommended.

Traditional Ashtanga Yoga – Level 3

Participants will be led through the full primary series and will be introduced to the intermediate series. While primary series focuses on purifying the body, the intermediate series aims to tone the nervous system through a moderate series of core strengthening and back bending exercises. This class is recommended for those who have prior experience with the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga. Please inquire if you are uncertain if this class is suitable for you.

Bellydance & Tae Bo® Courses

Introduction to Bellydance

This class will give an introduction to the basic movements that comprise the bellydance form. We will learn how to isolate different muscle groups to create sharp, rhythmic movements, as well as controlled serpentine movements. We will learn to apply these movements while moving across the floor, and let it all flow together in a dance combination. No previous dance experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable exercise wear that allows ease of movement and shows the body line.

Tae Bo® – All Levels

Tae Bo® is the original “cardio-kickboxing” fitness workout created by world renowned fitness expert Billy Blanks®. HIs workouts have often been imitated, but never duplicated. It is a total body workout, with amazing cardio throughout. Be ready to kick, punch, jump, twist and sweat your way through the workout. Just be prepared to feel muscles you never knew you had before!
