Course descriptions for the session starting Tuesday, September 5th, ending Sunday, October 29th with no classes Thanksgiving weekend, October 7th – 9th

Whatever your style, level, or fitness goal, we have a class that’s perfectly suited for you. All of our classes are progressive in design, building and expanding over a matter of weeks to allow you to deepen your practice and receive the individual attention you deserve.

We also offer private classes for those who wish to work outside of the regular schedule and for those with injuries, pre and post-surgery, athletes, special interest groups or simply a group of friends who would like to work together!

All classes are 55 minutes unless otherwise indicated.

Classes which consist of more than one or two sessions per week are shown in colours.

Pilates is a fun and challenging way to build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone for a stronger, core and happier back. It focuses on precise movements emphasizing control and technique. We offer an extensive selection of Pilates classes on the Mat, Springs and Apparatus. 

What is the studio class?

  • A class which includes Springs (the Springs ensure that every movement you make engages your core and multiplies the power and effect of each movement), matwork, Reformer & Chair

What is the studio series?

  • A course which offers you a full workout utilizing all the Pilates equipment, Springs and matwork and has you coming twice a week; either Monday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Friday.

If you are new to Pilates and wish to take a Pilates course, we recommend you take the ‘Introduction to Pilates’ Workshop first.

Workshops:

This one hour five person workshop will take you through everything you need to know before enrolling into a Pilates matwork or apparatus class and will teach you how to get the most out of each class. Ann will take you through the five basic principles of Pilates and introduce you to matwork and apparatus exercises. You will leave with handouts and homework!

Level 1

Beginner’s Pilates for Seniors – Level 1 *New course*

This introductory Pilates matwork class is for those over 55 who wish to increase their strength, flexibility and balance. The course will be based on STOTT Pilates Essential matwork and will start by introducing clients to the five basic principles of Pilates, progressing from there.

Beginner’s Matwork – Level 1 *New course*

Want to learn how to do Pilates?  This 45 mins introductory matwork course is designed to take you right from the beginning and will build each week to have you developing longer, leaner muscles. You will feel stronger and more confident about your fitness. Based on STOTT Pilates matwork, this course is an excellent foundation course.

Plus Factor Beginner’s Pilates – Level 1 *New Course*

This 45 mins beginner Pilates matwork class is taught by Kelly.  Kelly looks forward to working with plus sized men and women who, like herself, want to work in an environment where they feel very comfortable and know that their teacher can relate to them! This Studio class utilises the Pilates Chair, Reformer, Matwork, and Springs. The Springs ensure that every movement you make engages your core and multiplies the power and effect of each movement. This course is for those starting, who wish to be exposed to all the various areas of Pilates. Join this intimate five person course to strengthen your core stability and develop longer, leaner muscles. This is an excellent introductory course.

Beginner’s Sunday Pilates  – Level 1 *New Course*

This essential level matwork course is based on STOTT Pilates principles; however, your teacher, Andra Hunter, has a wealth of knowledge in other modalities so don’t be surprised if this class is a little different! In your first class you will be taken through the five basic principles of Pilates, moving and learning from there.

Level 1-2

Pilates for Seniors-Level 1-2 (Two or Three Times a Week)

A class designed for those over 55 who have taken some Pilates OR are reasonably, but NOT overly, fit and wish to build Pilates skills. You will increase your fitness level, while also strengthening your core and back muscles and improve balance and flexibility. Mondays and Fridays will be matwork and Springs (weight bearing exercises – great for building core strength) and, Wednesdays will be on the apparatus. This class may be taken twice a week (Monday & Friday) or three times a week for the full course.

Intermediate Pilates For Seniors-Level 2 (Two or Three times a week)

This class is designed for those who have already taken Pilates and/or are fit for their age and do not have difficulty getting up or down from the floor. This intermediate Pilates class is specifically designed for those over 55 who wish to increase their strength, flexibility and balance. Your teacher is a senior herself and you will find it easy to relate to her. This course will be based on STOTT Pilates matwork.

Looking for a full body workout? The Springs utilise weight bearing exercises – great for building bone strength. This class is designed to strengthen your core, upper body, and lower body resulting in longer, leaner muscles.

Lunchtime Apparatus & Springs – Level 2 

This twice weekly 45 min lunchtime class is for clients who have done Pilates before and are working at an intermediate level. This course is not for clients working at an advanced level (i.e. level 2/3 or 3). In this class you will work on the Reformer, Chair, & Springs to get a full body workout.

Intermediate Matwork-Level 2

This matwork course is based on the STOTT ® Pilates principles – you will find this a challenging course with a full body workout that focuses on improving core strength and toning all muscle groups.

This mat based intermediate class will move at a slightly faster pace than your traditional Pilates, but don’t worry, great attention will still be paid to precision and getting the maximum benefit out of each exercise!

Studio Series, level 2/3 

This series has specifically been designed by Joseph Pilates – of course, we’re kidding – but if he were still with us, we know he would approve!

This series gives you two choices: either apparatus on Monday and matwork on Wednesday OR matwork on Wednesday and apparatus on Friday – take your pick!

This is more economical than one private per week!

Studio Class-Level 2-3

The studio class differs from other classes because it is designed to give clients the opportunity to use the Pilates apparatus – Reformer, Chair, Springs, Arc Barrels, Small Apparatus and Mat during the course. Many more challenging movements are introduced at this higher level. This class is for those who have taken apparatus classes before and are very familiar with Pilates.

Want to start off the day right? Don’t have the time or energy to exercise at the end of the day?  Then join Iris at 6:45 to 7:30 on Mondays & Thursdays or Tuesdays & Fridays for a matwork class with a difference that will have you feeling and seeing results in no time. Iris has an extensive teaching background in many different modalities so expect this class to be different!

Stretch Therapy for Strength & Flexibility- All Levels

This is a class for the fit, and not so fit! For the flexible, and not so flexible! Designed to improve your flexibility and mobility, this course combines Pilates strengthening with Stretch Therapy for the whole body. Apply focused Stretch Therapy techniques that you can use at home or at work inspired by Kit Laughlin’s Stretch Therapy®.

This course is for all you lovely mommas who want to exercise with your babes. The weight of your babe will be used to increase the intensity of the exercise.
